In an important step toward strengthening its impact across the Pacific region, the South Pacific Eye Care Foundation has applied for Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR) status with the Australian Taxation Office — a move that promises to unlock greater support for its vital mission of delivering free eye care and glasses to disadvantaged communities.
Many people in the region lack access to basic eye health services due to geographic isolation, limited healthcare resources and financial hardship. The foundation addresses this gap through outreach clinics, volunteer programs and partnerships with local providers, delivering essential vision screening and prescription spectacles at no cost to those in need.

Achieving DGR status will allow donations to the foundation to be tax-deductible, making it easier for individuals, trusts and corporate partners to support its work. This increased fundraising capacity will help ensure the sustainability of existing programs and enable the foundation to reach more communities with preventable and treatable vision impairment.
Clear vision has a powerful impact — supporting education, employment and independence. Through its DGR application, the South Pacific Eye Care Foundation is taking a vital step toward ensuring that quality eye care is accessible to everyone, regardless of circumstance.
